Description of supervision approach:

I am led by what the supervisee brings to Supervision. My style is mainly non-directive – aiming to focus questions that are exploratory which will guide the Supervisee to their own solutions and ways of managing what they bring to supervision. My aim is to provide a safe space and the time for the Supervisee to think through the issues they want to explore.

With NQPs my approach may be more direct to begin with, to provide information that they are not yet familiar with in their clinical work – especially with those who are in Independent Practice. I will include visits to their workplace when required to sign off their competencies.

My approach to Supervision has been influenced by Supervision I have received as well as what has been mentioned above. An initial meeting will clarify expectations and I build in review periods with Supervisees to reflect on how their Supervision is going to ensure it continues to meet their needs and/or if a change is a required.
